CATEGORY DESCRIPTION
 The candidate must work alone, either directly or through a business in which he/she is the only shareholder or a shareholder with related persons, must not be receiving a salary as of the reference date (except from a business where he/she is the only shareholder or a shareholder with related persons) and must do business with one or several companies or organizations. The self-employed worker must not have salaried employees and must not have had any employees throughout the year preceding the date of reference and starting at the date of reference.

1 With regards to calculating a company's length of time in business, a company that was operating under two different corporate names in its first two years of existence must be considered as a company that has been operating for more than two years, if it has undertook, and continues to undertake, the same organized economic activity (activities) and if it has done so in such a way that the pre-selection committee can establish that it is in fact one and the same company.
